This Privacy Policy explains how Dictation Doggy ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Dictation Doggy macOS app, mobile apps, and website at dictationdoggy.com (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
Dictation Doggy operates the Service. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected]. If you are in India, this address also serves as our Grievance Officer contact under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
Depending on your settings and device, dictation is transcribed either on your device (using Apple's on-device speech recognition) or in the cloud by our transcription providers. Cloud audio is sent securely, transcribed, and is not used to train third-party models. If you enable Privacy Mode, your transcript text and audio are not stored on our servers — only minimal, non-content metadata (such as timing and word counts) is kept.
We use your information to: transcribe your speech and deliver the text; sync your history, dictionary, and settings across your devices; process payments and manage subscriptions; provide support; keep the Service secure and reliable; and comply with law. We do not sell your personal data.
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), for our legitimate interests (security, reliability, improving the Service), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where required (for example, optional analytics).
We share limited data with vendors who process it on our behalf under contract, including: transcription and AI providers (e.g. Deepgram, Groq), cloud infrastructure and storage (Cloudflare, Amazon Web Services), payments (Stripe, RevenueCat), email delivery (Resend), and error monitoring (Sentry). These providers may process data outside your country.
We are based in India and use providers in other countries, including the United States and the EU. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers.
We keep your account data while your account is active. Transcripts and history are kept until you delete them or close your account. Diagnostic logs are kept for a limited period. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax, or security obligations.
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time — export a copy from Settings, delete individual takes from your history, or delete your entire account from Settings. Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and India's DPDP Act), you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise any right, email [email protected].
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and regulators of significant incidents as required by law.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
